If you can tell Mrs Shaw the size of the missing angles, a and b, show her your working on a scrap piece of paper and you can put your name in the box for Friday's draw.
We are a Year 5/6 classroom at Winton School in Southland. Check out some of our great work and see what we have been up to!

Kisses for Fishes
One tropical and sunny morning I went down to the seashore for a swim. I saw four tropical fish which I liked, but one stood out like a sore thumb! Suddenly it was swimming towards my face and this is what I did, "I kissed a fish and I liked it, the taste of it's big old fish lips."

Too Tired For Breakfast
A fabulous little girl was exhausted, she had woken up at 5:00 am. She seemed to be amazingly hungry, so she went to the kitchen and started to make herself a sandwich, but fell asleep on the bread! It was a hilarious sight! Her mother got up to see her little girl fast asleep and was astonished. She quickly carried her back to bed and tucked her under the blankets.

Our Idols.
In class, as part of our homework, we had to present to the class a short presentation about who our idol is. So far we have had a wide variety of people as idols, from sports stars to ordinary people we know. Kaitlin's idol is Mark Todd, which is very fitting as he has just been in the news for winning Badminton for his forth time, after first winning the three day equestrian event 31 years ago. He also won back-to-back gold medals for New Zealand at the Olympic Games. Mark Todd thinks his new horse Land Vision has a good chance of winning an Olympic medal.
Who is somebody you respect and look up to as an idol? What makes you choose them?

Class Fish.
In Room 1 we have four cockabillies in our fish tank. Sam brought us two at the beginning of the year and two more have appeared since then, one very mysteriously! Under the motor of the air pump in the tank is a sac of small eggs. I wonder if they will hatch? Do you have to have male and female cockabillies for the eggs to hatch or does it not matter like with some species? Who can find the answer to this so we know if we might have some baby fish??

A Royal Wedding!
On Friday 29th April, Catherine Middleton (Kate) married Prince William. They were married in front of hundreds of people and millions more watched them worldwide, either outside or on TV. Imagine your new husbands grandma is .... THE QUEEN! There were lots of people invited to the wedding which the couple would not know very well, if at all. How do you think it might feel to get married with so many people watching you that you don't really know? Would you like to marry a prince or princess? Why? How do you think Kate's life will change now she has married William? Does anyone know what their new names are now? What is the name of the beautiful place they got married in?

Mr McManly by Meg Johnstone
Mr McManly got out of bed early one Saturday morning and lumbered into his humongous kitchen. His wife was there and on the table was a delicious, steaming hot breakfast of crispy bacon and pancakes, which were drizzled with golden syrup. He sat down in his large, comfy wooden chair and started eating his breakfast. About 10 minutes later he marched upstairs and got into his big white pants, dark blue top, and put his size 13 shoes on before striding downstairs again. He called goodbye to his wife and got into his big black Austin Martin.
He drove into town and pulled up outside a huge, flash white building on the main road. He toddled into the building and weaved his way through the tables and chairs to the kitchen. He puts on his big apron and white hat, got out a pan and puts it on the stove. Mr McManly hears Bob shout,
"One beef and pineapple sandwich!" Mr McManly quickly grills a sandwich and shouts,
"Orders up!"

Creative Chefs!
Our newsboard topic over the next two weeks is to create a meal at home and share the recipe with the class. Recipes don't always turn out to plan, so we also have to explain what we would change for next time, if anything does need changing! We have made some delicious looking things and have even been able to taste test some of the baking! YUM!!
This is Callum's recipe.
